ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Preamble

During February 23-27, 2010, The Department of Biotechnology, AMET University conducted the First National Level Workshop on Marine Biotechnology for Undergraduate Students with the aim of providing hands on training to Undergraduate students in the field of Marine Biotechnology to ignite the students to take up Marine Biotechnology research.

About the Training Program

Realizing the immense potential of Marine Biotechnology Research in India, many Universities and research laboratories have started to strengthen their research capabilities on this emerging field. Government of Tamil Nadu has also initiated a multimillion dollar project to set up a Centre for Marine Biotechnology in Chennai. These developments clearly show the growing opportunities in the field of Marine Biotechnology. Very few Universities are offering Marine Biotechnology Course in India. However, such a small volume of manpower could not meet the growing needs of this booming industry. And hence, The Department of Biotechnology, AMET University is organizing a series of training programs on Marine Biotechnology especially for undergraduate students to motivate them to pursue research and job oriented higher education. In our first workshop on Marine Biotechnology during February 2010, 26 undergraduate students from various parts of our Country have participated, benefitted and still maintaining academic collaborations with us. In continuation with the first workshop, the Department is now announcing Second National Level Workshop on Marine Biotechnology for Undergraduate Science Students.

  1. Hi, probably our entry may be off topic but anyways, I have been surfing around your blog and it looks very professional. It’s obvious you know your topic and you appear fervent about it. I’m developing a fresh blog plus I’m struggling to make it look good, as well as offer the best quality content. I have learned much at your web site and also I anticipate alot more articles and will be coming back soon. Thanks you.
