Theme of the Seminar

This seminar is entirely for B.Sc., students from any branches of Life Sciences in India. There has been several ways wherein we need the knowledge of Biotechnology to solve and understand the problems of daily life. Young minds may have several solutions for such problems in a Biotechnological way. In this context, the Department of Biotechnology, AMET University is organizing a one day seminar on Biotechnology in Daily life.

Who can participate?

B.Sc., Students from any discipline of Life Sciences are encouraged to participate in this seminar.

Registration Details

Students are advised to register themselves through proper channel on or before 05-03-2011. Registration fee is Rs. 100. Registration fee can be paid on the spot for the students who send their filled in registration forms. No Spot registrations.

A student can participate in a maximum of two events. Number of participants to each event has been limited to 25 only.

Details of events

Seminar contest: Each student is expected to present a maximum of 4 minutes plus 1 minute discussion. Topic: Who am I?. It is expected to present about the career aim of students.

Quiz Competition: Quiz will be on Life Sciences. From institution/Department a maximum of two teams each comprising two members can participate. There is no limitation for number of participants in this event. But final contestants will be selected based on an entrance test performance.

Cartoon drawing: Drawing medium is on paper and type of drawing is the choice of contestant. Topic: If microbes speak…

Project ideas: Students may have many solutions for our daily life problems that can be solved by Biotechnological approaches. This event is a presentation of innovative research ideas to solve a daily problem with Biotechnology. For example: Bioremediation of Coovum River water for the irrigation of ornamental plants. Best three ideas will be awarded and the awarded students from this event can undergo one month free Training at our Department.

Film Narration: Several short films/documentaries/animations are available in the internet. Students can search films relevant to Life Sciences. The film should be of 5-7 min in length and should be a copyright free material.

Life Sciences Antakshri: It’s a group event. A group of two students and from each college a maximum of two groups is permitted. Life Science Technical terminologies are the theme of this program.

If more contests apply for an event, a test will be conducted to select the final 25 participants.
