About the faculties

The Department is equally strengthened with both experienced and young faculty members. Currently the Department has three full time faculties and two visiting faculties.

Prof. A. Jaffar Hussain Dean-Life Sciences
Professor of Biotechnology, Dean of Life Sciences and Special officer in the AMET University who is having more than 35 years of teaching and research experience in Presidency College, Chennai. His research interests are Plant physiology, Biochemistry and Marine Industrial Bioproducts.

Dr. R. Muthezhilan, Asst. Professor
A Doctorate of Marine Biology from CAS in Marine Biology Annamalai University with strong Microbiology background has interests in Marine Microbiology, Mycology, Enzyme technology, Extremophiles and Bioprocess Technology.

Dr. M. Jayaprakashvel, Asst. Professor
A Doctorate of Industrial Microbiology from University of Madras has interests in Microbial Diversity, Fluorescent pseudomonads, Biopesticides, Biofertilizers and Microbial secondary metabolites.
Mr. K. Karthik, M.Sc., Ph.D* Visiting Faculty
A post graduate of Indsutrial Microbiology Mr. K. Karthik is in the verge of receiving the PhD degree officially. Besides, He is taking classes for our PG and M.Phil scholars on Molecular Biology, Advanced Molecular techniques 1 & 2. He is having good experience on Microbial pigments, Biological evaluation of microbial metabolites, Phytochemistry and Industrial Biotechnology.
Mr. K. Vijayanand, M.Sc., M.Phil., Visiting Faculty
A post graduate in Applied Microbiology and M. Phil in Genetics from University of Madras, Mr. Vijayanand is handling classes on Genetics, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Immunology and rDNA technology. He has largely worked on cytogenetics, Immunology, recombinant DNA technology and protein biology.
